The vnliio of goods, produce, etc., exported during last veur amounted to , £.'13,280,037, which, compared with 1015 ( £31,748,012) pillows a very substantial increase of £1,536,025. This excess in value of imports, Mr Myers pointed out on Saturday, is wholly duo to increased values of the goods purchased, as a return which lie had prepared of tonnage of cargo for New Zealand «n vessels arriving from overseas at each port indicates that whereas 1,370,057 tons were landed in New Zealand ports during 1015, onlv 1,290,044 tons arrived during 101G, a decrease of 70,113 tons. AVhen compared with the 1014 figures (1,538,755 tons), the decrease during 10l(i is more pronounced (238,51 l tons), On the above figures, the Minister added, tiiie value of total trade per head works out approximately at £54 4s, imports being £23 10s per head, and exports £3O as per head.
