RIFLE SHOOTING.
WELLINGTON DISTRICT MEETING. TARANAKI SUCCESSES. The Wellington District rifle shooting meeting opened on the Pntiki range on Monday, in ideal weather, says the \\ anganui C'hronielc. The competitions wore open to Territorials, Ride Clubs and Si nior Cadets in the Wellington Military District, and entries were received from Wellington. Gisborne. Xapiel', Wairarapa, Manawatn, Taranaki, and Ohura districts, besides a large number of local competitors. Before shooting commenced, Lieut.-Col. T. M. McDonald. General Staff Officer for the Wellington Military District, addressed the competitors.
(•'rent interest was token in the I'cams Match, 13 teams .competing, intituling three teams from the Wauganiti Defence Rifle Club, the present holders of the Champion Shield. After a close contest the Licensed Victuallers' Shield was won hv the JJnton Ride Club's No. 1 team, the No. 1 team of tl'.e. P. and T. Corps scoring 18 points less, and (lie holders of the shield .vcre oily one point behind the latter. Private D. T. Goodson, lltli (Taramtkil Regiment, won the Grand Aggrecrnie match, with 157 points.
