The rebellion in xilpoli originated in tl'c intrigues of the native agitator Barccni, who fled from Tripoli and returned supplied with Turco-German fund?. He declared tliat lie was authorised by the Sultan to organise a rebellion against .Italy. Two tribes concentrated three columns of (5000 strong against the Italian friendlies. The Italians attacked the approaching columns and completely routed them. The enemy iell; 400 dead. The Italian casualties wen not heavy and they are pursuing the enemy. <
