■»■ ♦ APPEALS BY FARMEUS. By Telegraph,—Press Association. Dannevirko, Jf.nuary 16. The Military Service Anpeal' Board sat at Dsnneivrke to-day and dealt with 23 appeals, principally by dairy farmers, who asked for" e>;emntion on the grounds of undue hardship "and public interest. In only three of the cases were the appeals allowed, one being a Salvation Army captain at Woolville, who appealed on the ground of public interest, the others being cases over and under military age. Other appeals were either disallowed oi t.'hc decisions were reserved sine die, the cases to .;o reviewed at the end of three months. LEAVE FROM SERVICE 'Wellington, January Hi. New regulations have been approved by the Executive Council today enabling leave of absence without jay to be granted to voluntary recruits on various grounds, relating to ir/nmediate service causing undue hardship, ar.l providing that the men exempted from serservice on account of their occupation shall notify the commandant of any change of their occupation, address, etc.
