PALMEHSTON NORTH APPEAL CASES. Bv Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston North, Last Night, "pie jVlilitary Service Board adjourned the appeals of W. G. Gardnei, farmer, Shannon, Hugh McKee, farmer, Aokaulere, Leslie Morris, farmer, Newburv until the next sitting of the Board. "' The eases of Samuel James Strahan, iarmer, Apit-i, James Burns, jur.. farm|r, Kelvin Orovo, Edson Newdick, dairy farmer, Whakaronga, William Henry 'Smith, farmer Moutoa, George JudcL dairy fanner, Shannon, were adjourned sine die.
Three brothers, Charles, Edward and John Conlan, farmers, Orura Downs called up under Section 35. appealed on the ground of being permanently unfit. The Board adjourned the appeal of John Conlan sine die, while the other two brothers were given to February 5. Fred Ofsoki, motor driver, Palmerston North, appealed on the ground of being under age, and on his birth .•ertifieat" being produced the appeal was allowed! Ernest Henry Mallett and Aubrey Mallet, farmers, Kairanga, called up under Clause 35, applied for an extension of time. The Bonn] granted leave to Aubrey till March 5, and to Ernest to May 28.
The appeal of James MacManus, Catholic Priest, of Palmerston North, was granted on the ground of public interest William John Newdicks, carpenter. Palmerston. had his appeal allowed as ho had beer, declared permanently unfit for service.
.'lames and Henry Walker, dairy farmers, TTimatangi, appealed on the ground: of public interest and undue hardship. The Board dismissed James' appeal, and adjourned Henry's sine die.
The appeal of Henry Biltir.er, farmer Linton, whom the Medical Board reported as permanently unfit, wa: allowed The appeal of Herman Dittmer. bis brother, was dismissed.
The appeals of Frank Fdlin, flax hand, Foxton, Victor Carroll Betty, shop assistant. Foxton, were allowed. William Francis Carroll and Francis Joseph Carroll, farmers. Glen Orua, were granted an extension till February 5 Vincent Carroll's appeal war adjourned to the next sitting of the Board. POSITION OF COAL MINERS. Greymouth, Last Night At the afternoon sitting of the Military Appeal Board the cases of the coal minei'L. and truekers who appealed were adjourned sine die. Strcs? was laid on the point that if appellants leave their employment the mine manager was responsible to the authorities. In extrenu cases the appeals of sawmillers were allowed. ROTORUA CASES. . Rotorua, Last Night. The Military Service Appeal Board sat to-day. Fifteen appeals were dealt with Twelve were dismissed, but the appellants were granted exemption until vart ous dates. One_appeal was adjourned and two were upheld. t
