The competitions at the Bed Cross Mart on Saturday resulted as follows: Coose, donated by Mr. Socket Smart road, won by Mr. W. Falconer. Cake, donated by Mr. May. won by Mr. A Bcwley. Paii of ducks, donated by Mrs Street, won by Mr. Russ.
Christmas pudding, donated by Mrs. Watlum (Fitzroy), won by Mr. M. IMley. Mesdamos Daily and Morrison are jeginning to receive acknowledgements of tbe Christmas parcels pent to the boys at the front. The first notification came from Egypt, stating the cigarettes ?.r----r.vcd in fine condition. BALE OF LITERATURE. Th members of the Women's Patriotic league have bit upon a novel and useful idea of maintaining theii revenue. The flower season is drawing to a close, and the supplies at the stall on Saturdays itrc becoming smallei. A large quantity of used literature has been contributed to the League, and this is being solil at the stalls. The literature consists of art magazines, popular periodica'* and no>ek The public buy the sending matter readily, and appreciate th tion.
NEED'FOR WARM SOCKS. Mrs. J. A. Quiekfall acting-secretary of the Omata Sewing Guild, says that letters received by ' .nembers of the Oinatu Sewing Guild emphasise the great need for warm socks and also bed-socks,i which a nurse writing from Franc*, say.! ore very acceptable in the hospitals at the present time. Mrs. Burgess thanks all friends, and the children especially, who helped to make the. effort such s splendid success.
