Thu K.;.air3 tc tin-, ph.: t during the month have been quite normJ, <*nd the whole equipment is working viry weli. ELECTRIC LIGHTING DEPARTMENT. Al! the plant at the power house and sub-station, including the storage batteries, has worked well during the month, and no trouble bar been experienced over and above the normal repair? and adjustments. The screens in the forebay appear to be rusting badly and I think mainly for want of a protecting paint. A suitable paint has been procured and the work is now being carried out. I notice, also many transformers and supports on the system situated out of cover, whose condition would be improved by painting, and this work will be undertaken as time permits. The street lighting mains have been extended from the junction of South and Breakwater roadr to Pioneer road, to supply public lighting to the Ngamotu beach, also the private lighting mains as far as the pavilion. The reminder of the work authorised should be completed during this month. The Waiwakaiho River during the month has reached its minimum for this season and is lower now than I have ever seen it,. This opportunity has been taken, and the flow of the river measured. The calculations are not yet completed but will be embodied in a separate report.
