Mr. J. H. Quilliam returned from a holiday visit to Auckland'yesterday. Chaplain-Lieut.-Colonel Evans, who has been visiting Auckland, has returned, to New Plymouth. Mr. A. L. Humphries of the firm of Messrs. Stacker and Humphries, will arrive from Trentham to-night, and will take charge of the business affuirs of his late partner, Mr. H. Stocker. A Renter' .'able message last night announced the death of the Count de Benckendorir, who was born at Berlin on August 1, 1849, and was Russian Ambassador to Britain for many years. He has held several diplomatic appointments. The funeral of the late Master Richard V'aughan Hamlyn the 17-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Hamlyn, of Lepperton, took place yesterday afternoon at the Te Henui Cemetery. The deceased died while on a visit io Auckland. He was born in New Plymouth, and had resided in the district all his life.
