Mr. E. Dixon, Mayor of Hawera, who •lias been in indifferent health lately, is recuperating in tfew Plymouth. He is accompanied by Mrs. Dixon. Word has been received ot the death at Denver, Colorado, of Colonel C'pdy, known as Buffalo Bill. •Mr. Fred. Bellringer, chairman of the Taranaki Hospital Board, is attending the Hospital Boards' conference in Wellington. Another of the fast-disappearing band of pioneers passed away yesterday in the person of Mr. Wm. Kilvington, at the advanced age of 87, reports the Star. Deceased, with his late wife and family, came to tills district somewhere about the beginning of the 'eighties. He took up a small holding near the township of Normanby, and resided there for many years, eventually coming to live in Hawera with his son, Mr. Geo. ICilvington. The late Mr. Kilvington was a keen horticulturist, and took a good deal of interest in the Normanby Horticultural Show, being an active member of the Society until failing health compelled him ti» retire. He leaves an only son, Mr. Geo. Kilvington, of the Hawera Post Office staff.
