IXVERCARGILL APPEALS. By Tejegraph —Press Association. \ Invereargill, Last. Night. The Military Service Board commenced its sittings late this afternoon, and continued till 10 o'clock. There were 180 cases set down for hearing, a goodly proportion being those of farmers and farm laborers. A large majority of tlic appeals were dismissed. The Nightcaps Coal Company appealed on behalf of two miners and a trimmer. The miners' appeals were sustained, and the trimmer's adjourned sine di«, the company io endeavor to replace him at the first opportunity. A farmer's son appealed on the grounds of financial position and his father being a semi-invalid, and the appeal was granted.

A farmer and farm laborer wcra e,i;': granted till April 1, and a chaffcutting contractor fill March 1. The ease of a dairy farmer who' ..j] been twice turned down was adjourned till the next sitting.

This appeal of Duncan McArtliur, la blacksmith and' undertakei at Winton, was dismissed, mid that of his brother John (his partner) was allowed. Donald McDonald, i farm hiWcr, »vlio managed his father's farm of S2O acres, was granted a conditional exemption. The rase of AVm Shirley, a shearer, was adjourned for medical examination. John Patrick Flanagan, joint-owner, with his mother and toother, of a farm of 4.10 here , at Winton, was granted till April 1. ' The e.isj of Herbert Capon, a eliaffcutting hand, who had been rejected,; was adjourned till the next sitting, for medical examination. The Xaval authorities, through the Telegraph Department, appealed on behalf of a wireless operator at Awarua, who was an expert in naval procedure, and as the appeal was the first of its kind it was granted. The case of R. J. Schmidt, employed on his father's farm at Woodlands, the only son of his father, who is r.n invalid, whs adjourned sine die, conditional on his remaining in the same occupation.
