A "SACRED CONCERT."
To the Editor. Sir, —After listening to the pieces furnished bv- the Ossipoff Company last Sunday night, I failed to ?.ce where the "sacred concert" came in. Such songs as "The Holy City," "Nazareth," "Ora pro Nobis," etc., were conspicuous by their absence from the programme submitted. During a clamorous appeal for an encore Mr. Ossipoff enquired if "They knew what night it was?" He might also hove asked that question of his lady reciting, some of whose items were illtimed and quite unsuited for a Sunday night performance. No piece sung or rfcited at a sacred concept should Sje such as to cause a guffaw of laughter. I strongly advise our worthy llayor in the future when any sacred concert is advertised to insist on having for his perusal a copy of the intended programme. Otherwise we will have—by degrees—the objectionable Continental Sunday sprung upon us.—l am, etc., HANNAH WOODS.
