McGavin, who has been in charge of No 1 Stationary Hospital, Egypt, for a considerable time, has been appointed Assistant Director of Medical Services to the New Zealand Division in the field. Colonel J.'cGavin has been ill with pneumonia and pleurisy. Lieutenant-Colonel E. 0. McNeill succeeds Colonel McGavin at the No. 1- Stationary Hospital.

Amongst the list of oflicers .returning to New Zealand by a steamer canying); invalided soldiers, and due to arrive ntY Port Chalmers on January 13, appear the names of J. L. Haselden, son of Mr. R W. Haselden, S.M., and Major F. H. Lampen, who was at one time stationed in Taranaki. The list of other passengers 011 the same boat includes Mrs Lampen and child.

Corporal A. W. Brown, fourth son 08 Mi. and Mrs. D. Brown, of Durie Hill Wnnganui, has been awardtd the D.C.M ■Corporal Brown, who was on the staff of the (J.P.0., Wanganui, wa- well known in football and cricket ciieles.
