PLAYING FOR TIME. ALLIES QUITE PREPARED. ROYALISTS PEAR VENIZELOS. Received Jan. 8, 5.30 js.ns. London, Jan. 7. Hie Daily Chronicle's Alliens correspondent states it in expected the Government reply to the Note will be inconclusive, with a view to saining time. The Allic- have completed their preparation?, so us to leave events and the blockade to take their course. The Royalist papers continue to urge the non-aiceptanee of the Note, fearing that Venizelos will be installed when the troops are removed. THE ROYALISTS' OBJECTIONS.. ■ Received Jan. 8, 7.50 p.m. Lpiulon, Jan. 7. The Morning Post's Athens correspondent states that the Greek Government on Saturday handed a memorandum to the Entente representatives embodying the objections to the demands of December XI, and indicating flie necessity for the greater protection of Old Greece against the Venizeli.sts' ambitions.
EXCOMMUNICATION OF VENIZELOS. k GORY CEREMONY. United Service London, Jan. 7. Mr. Jeffries. writing from Adinns, states that Xr. Venizelos was, on Christmas Day. publicly excommunicated by the authorities of the (!re,:k Church. The Government opposed the step, but the reservists forced the Metropolitan of Athens to perform the ceremony. A gory bull's hend \ras placed in a square made of stones and the Metropolitan, with averted head, pronounced the Anathema. The reservists marched past shouting "Anathema,", and 50,000 men, women, and children cast .'.tones, cursing Venczelos as a traitor. REPAIR TO I-AKISSA BRIDGE, London, Jan. 7. Le Matin states that Greece has promised the Entente Ministers to repair the Larissa, bridge within forty-eight hours.
