. THE FREYBERGS. Araon>, tlio appeals heard by the Mil"lary Service Board at Wellington on Thursday was that of Charles Victor Freyberg, whose lighting brothers Jiavt made the family famous Freyberg, an insurance clerk, related the circumstances connected with his appeal -*s follows: — His mother is a widow. She had five sons. Four enlisted. One was killed in the war, one was lying wounded in a London hospital, and the other two were still at the front. The one in the London hospital had been wounded six times. Some weeks ago witness wrote to hus brother in hospital askinr him to eoW home and look after i.ieir mother.Wd lie would go to the front in his place. A member of the Board: Do yon think he will come back? Appellant: INot unless he 1.; permanently incapacitated. If he docs ,omt back, I will enlist. The Board considered the case on, r hardship, and allowed the appeal Complimentary references were mad. to the gallantry, and to the signal services of Lieut.-Colonel Freyberg, V.C.
