STRATFORD NOTES, (By "Moturoa.") Volo spells velocity. •, Sunbird will be right soon. Peroneal broke down at Stratford. Pvawakore (Penury—Madam Soult) is a promising colt. Inah can go a bit, but is a long way from the top rung. Normanby and Cordon filled the minor places in both the gent, riders' races. Owen McCarten hopped oil with three wins on the first day, but had to wait till the last race on Tuesday for his fourth.

Tlie Auckland division picked up the double on the second day, and "rubbod it in" by notching a win with Hicro. White Blaze won nicely oif the first day, but in the Toko Welter did not receive much assistance from his rider, and could only finish fifth. Iceberg was badly interfered with in the Tariki Welter, but he made amends by winning nicely on the second day. Considering how sore the grey was, Ikpaid a very short price. There were dozens of bookmakers on the lawn at Stratford, and it was a common saying, "Don't crush in there (the "tote"'). You can get 'set' here." Awl, in additioiifthere was a Bar Von laving doubles as fast as he could write. They wanted a live racecourse detective there badly. Crown Head was twisted into "Crown Pearl" in the list of weights foi the Ladies' Purse. What a moral that would have been! And why didn't ivc take the tip? Claude Browne rode two of liis bet races when he pushed Soldier und Kauri King home on Tuesday. Both took +lk home turn without losing an inch, and that had as much as anything to do with theii victories.

0. McCartcn, with foui firsts, was the most successful liorsemafi at Stratford. C. Browne and Anderson each sc-orod twice, and A Ward, Hcaly, McDonnell, K. Brown, C. Ciordon, K. Lambcss, 3lr. Wade and Mr. Duvv once each. The principal winning owners were:— F. Selwood £33"), II ,S. Wilson £205, M. Franklin £2OO, A. Gibbons £IOO, W. J. Brown £l4O, W. L. Jones £135. ,T, McKean £l2O, P. Johnson £llO, F. Jewell £llO, H. Spratt £llO, Hall and Leahy £llO. W. J. Tweedie £IOO. A. Grove £BO, H. McClelland £SO, and Miss M. Brewer £SO.
