■ A POMPOUS CLAIM. London, Jan. 2. A Turkißh communication to Austria and Germany proclaims Turkey's 'nde-pendence-of the suzerainty of the great European Powers and state? that Turkey enters: the group of great European Powers with all rights and prerogatives and entirely Independent. Her Government has allied herself witli Austro-Ger-many on a footing of entire equality. Turkey denounces the Treaty of Paris of 1858 and the Treaty of Berlin of 1878 Uld abolishes the special statutes.
