24th RKINFORCEUE.XTJ9. LOCAL QUOTA FAREWKLLED. The membe.-s of tlie Taranaki quota of the 24tli Rf inforeements were fare-, welled yesterday morning, immediately prior to thci: departure for eamp by the mail train. The men assembled at the Brill Hall and were marched to the rooms of the Women's Patriotic League. The .Mayoress (Mrs, C. H. Purges.?) and Miss Pardy s.'rvcd the men with refreshments and handed to each of them a gift parcel with the league's best wishes. There was a large assemblage at the railway station to see them oil'. The Mayor iMr. C. H. fcurgess) and some members of the Patriotic Committee were also present. The Mayor briefly addressed the men, He mentioned that the Taranaki quota, for the 24th Reinforcements had been filled a considerable time before it was required. He wished the recruits goodbye and good-lirck. Members of the Citizens' Rand played a number of patriotic airs, and eoneluded the programme with "Auld Lang Syne," and the National Anthem.
