AN IMPORTANT STATEMENT. Washington, December 31. The Japanese Government has cabled resident Wilson a denial regarding the recent sensational reports, giving a reassurance of continued friendship, and says Japan will not acquire British super-Dreadnoughts after the war. Regarding the disposition of the Carolines and other Pacific islands that Japan has seized, she is quite ready to settle their disposal in such peace terms as the Entente approves,
