FUTURE OF CONSTANTINOPLE. BRITAIN ASSENTS TO RUSSIAN AIMS. Received Jan. 2, 7.50 p.m. Petrograd, Jan. 2. The British Ambassador, in a. speech at the New Year banquet, said that peace was impossible till Germany's spirit of militarism was exorcised. Britain whole-heartedly assented to Russia's aims regarding Constantinople, and wished permanently to consolidate the Anglo-Russian alliance. He stated that Britain had advanced £000,000,000 to the Allies for the purchase of war material, besides what had been supplied direct.
