FROM NEW ZEALAND. TO OUR BRAVE ALLIES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, December 31. The Acting-Prime Minister this evening handed out for publication copies of the following official cablegrams: Cablegram r rom the Governor of New Zealand to the Secretary of .State for the Colonies, dated Dec-embei 20, 1010: I should be -jlail if you would kindly arrange for following New Year's messages to he tiansiniited:

• Japan—New Zealand was proild to have the special privilege of welcoming two of your men-of-war to the shores of these islands in 101 li. May the New Year now dawning bring happiness to all your Imperial Majesty's subjects anil victory whic.li alone can give lasting peace to the arms of the Allies.

Serbia.—The Dominion, of New Zealand desires resp->etfully to express to your Majesty the earnest, hope that the New Year will he the herald of the victorious nilva.n.:e or the Allied armies, and that at no-iar distant date the gallant Serbian nation will be freed from the tyranny of her enemies.

Russia. —I respectfully desire to tender to vonr Imperial Majesty, on behalf of myself, the Government and the people of New Zealand an expression of unbounded admiration for the efforts of •th'o Russian ovation iu the cause of honor and justice, and at the same time to assure you that we feel confident that the close co-operation and unity of purpose which exists amongst the Allies must ultimately bring defeat to the foe and honorable and lasting peace to the nations of Europe. France.—On the commencement of another New Year New Zealand, through me, sends greetings to tin people, navy and armies of France and desires to associate herself in every way with the firm determination that pervades all ranks of tlie Allies to continue the struggle until an (nduring and righteous peace has becij achieved. Belgium.—Once mo,re New Year dawns and the Dominion of New Zealand, through me, sends her heartiest good wishes to your Majesty and prays that it will witness the complete restoration of the Belgian people to their rights and liberty for which they have fought so seriously against the common foe.

Portugal.—To the people of Portugal J send, on behalf of myself, my Government and people of New Zealand, most, cordial greetings for the New Y'ear. As one of Britain's oldest Allies, New Zealand is proud to find Portugal ranging herself on the side of the Allies against the foe, and knows she will not swerve in her determination to continue the struggle until a true and lasting victory is won.

Italy.—On the advent of 1917 I desire to respectfully tender to your Majesty, your people, sailors ami soldiers be.st wishes for the coining year from the Dominion of New Zealand. Ir spite of the greatest ditliculties Italian troops are gradually, in company with our other Allies, bringing nearer the time of victory which will herald an enduring peace. Roumania. New Zealand sends through me her best wishes to your Majesty, your people and armies for the New Year. The people of these Islands have anxiously watched the progress of events in your country and have rejoiced at the mi-flinching valor of your people. They pray that your countrv may be speedily released from the trials to which it has been subjected, and that Roumania. may soon, in company with all other nations, rejoice in a glorious and lasting victory which can only herald in peace.

His Excellency the Governor has received the following telegram from the Governor-General of the Commonwealth: —"The Government a.ul people of the Common-wealth of Australia send your cordial New Y'ear greetings. They fully appreciate the splendid work ' which your Government has done and have been filled with admiration of the feats performed by your forces. It is trusted that the year 1917 will sec the combined efforts of the do I ..unions and Allied nations crowned with complete victory and lasting peace." His Excellency has replied as follows: —"The people of these islands cordially reciprocate the, good wishes of the Commonwealth of Australia for the- New Year. I thank your Excellency for your kindly expressions regarding my Government and the- forces of this Dominion. I can assure you tJwt New Zealand's troops are proud to be associated with those, of the Commonwealth of Australia in support of all that is right and just."
