DROWNING FATALITY AT OAKURA. General regret was felt in New Plymouth yesterday morninj! when it became known that WiH'rm West, the 10-year-old son of Sir. .'i<>epl' West. a well-known local resid nt, had been drowned in the Oakura river The deceased and'a companion named MeGahey ■ycled to Oakum 0:1 Sutirt&j. and flayed at ihe resilience of deeeated'f uncle. Mr John West, for the night. The hoys were up early yesl ord;\\ morninc and 'V-nt for a swim in a hole- °r the Oaknra river. While bathing, Hi- deceased got iiiio difficulties and was drowned.
