DAMAGE BY FIRE.
[ A DISASTROUS YEAR, Extensive damage was done by fire in New Plymouth last year, th-r figures being the highest yet expci iciiced in the history of the brigade. 'J here were 16 (iros during the year, the principal buildings destroyed being the Breakwater Hotel, Chatsworth House, the Theatre lioyal, and the Boys' llU'i School., The loss to the insurance companies was £20,000, while the value of the damage done was about £32,000.
