A French Stall' Ollicer, General D'Amade, has sent- the following message to Sir Joseph Ward:—"l wish to convey to your country my admiration and pride at having commanded men rrom New Zealand of such splendid lighting qualities and magnificent physique. My greatest desire is to visit New Zealand and renew associations, which can never be forgotten." Sii Joseph Ward replied, thanking General D'Amade for his words of praise, wliigh New Zealanders would appreciate, and also expressing the hope that the General would visit New Zealand.
