A London cable states that Anstlti Quick, son of the late Mr. W. H. Quick, of Wellington, has been killed in action. Captain-Chaplain Connolly, of Taihapo, is visiting New Plymouth. CapConnolly is a Roman Catholic chaplain attached to the hospital ship* Maheno. A special service was held morning in the Hawera Presbyterian Church, in memory of the late Rev. J R. Shore, anfl a resolution was carried by the congregation, in silence, expressing appreciation of Mr. Short's work and grief at his sudden and sad death Reference was also made to Mr. Shore's death at St. Mary's Church, Hawera, hy the vicar on Sunday evening.
