RAROTU. (From Our Own Correspondent). The Wesleyan Sunday School anniversary services were I well attended, and the church was nicely decorated. Rev. R. B. Gosnell conducted the evening services and Rev. T. W. Featherstone the afternoon service. The singing of the children was especially good. The concert should have been better attended, but the rain came on. The prizes were given to all children - . Last year they gave their prize money to the patriotic fund. The plain and fancy dress ball as a final to the patriotic dances was a great success, visitors coming from a long distance. The breaking-up of the Raliotu School took the form of a concert, at which only pupils performed. The following piogranime was gone through, which showed that time and trouble had been taken by the teachers, Mr. Manning and i Miss Jones. Mr? A. Chapman (chairman)' presided:—("Veteran's Song," children; "Opening Speech," Dorothy Looney; comic song, "A Friend of the Family," boys; recitation, "Welcome AH," Liiy Williams; "Santa Claus," Standard I. and Primer 3; dialogue, "Deaf Mrs. Brown's Blunders," four girls; songs. "Little Dame Trot," ten girls, and "The Poor Little Dog," by the children; re-' citation, "The Torch of Life," Muriel Williams: song, "Sea Fairies," five girls; recitation, "The Fisherman's Song," Standard II.; recitation, "The Hindoos' Paradise," Dorothy Looney; recitation, "Domestic Asides," Muriel Williams; recitation, "He Worried about it," M. Wright, and is hoped to farewell them on Wednes-
ay evening. Owing to shipping difficulties, the lo;al factory has had to reduce its pay-out ior Christmas, and if there is no improvement in the shipping during the next month it will be impossible to pay suppliers their January cheques;' unless the banks are prepared to advance a"ainst cheese in store. Should the cheese be held up for any length ot time, it is hard to know what value to place upon it, as it will deteriorate vtry much if kept at a high temperature. It is the opinion of most folk that the shipping trouble would have been overcome had the dairy factory representatives met the Government in a reasonable manner in the early part of the season. The Government should have acted in a business-like manner and commandeered the whole of the dairy produce at a fair rate, and stopped all this agitation for extreme prices.
