Mr. H. M. Payne, of Wanganui, is spending a holiday in New Plymouth. A Sydney cable reports the death of I Dr. Dunne, Bishop of Wileaniiia. Mr. W. 0. Kenrick, S.M., whe las been relieving at Xapier, and was about to return to Hawera, has been notified to remain at Napier temporarily. Our Wellington correspondent records the death of Mr., Charles Bingham, aged T4, formerly a well-known architect in Wellington and Christcliiirt'h. The Very Rev. Dean llalley, of Wnganui. lias been appointed Provincial of the Society of Mary in liie Dominic:'., in place of Dean Smythe, who dieri in September. The new Provincial is ;l native of Christehurch.— Prcts Association. J Mrs. Bishop, of Koru. nas just received the distressing- news that lie; only son William, who went with the Seventh Reinforcements, is seriously ill nt Wal-ton-on-Thames, and not expected to recover. Private Bishop was at (Jallipoli. where he was seriously wounded, and on recovery he fought in France, where he contracted pneumonia.
