FRANKLEY SCHOOL.
BREAKING-UP CEREMONY. The Frankley Road School Went into recess 011 Thursday last, and in the evening the annual "prize-giving ceremony took place. Mr. A. Lister presided. The function was largely' attended, and the audience appreciated the programme of songs and recitations submitted by the children.
Tlie headmaster, in his annual report, said tlie attendance at the school bad shown 1 steady increase, and was now 12-. An average attendance of 120 wouid entitle- the school to another teacher. Tlie work of the school had proceeded satisfactorily, and the children had manifested a keen interest in their studies. The headmaster spoke in terms of gratification at the success achieved by children who gained proficiency certificates last year. The children, he said, had agreed to give the prize fund this year to the Belgians, and to accept certificates instead of prizes. The following pupils gained certificates of proficiency:—George Kendall, Keith Alien, Sidpey Wallath, Elsie Cole, and Kenneth Gudopp; and Norman Lobb a certificate of competency. The following pupils qualified for the department's good attendance certificates for the year I!)lC: —Keith Allen, Reginald Allan, ' Douglas Ballantyne, Stephen Hooker, Uonel Hooker, Norman Hooker, Newton Roch, Henry Booth, Martineau Burrows, Jessie Hamilton, Evelyn, Sole, Lorna Ballantyne, and Olive Corney. The primers each received a picture book, nor, in the nature of a prize, but as a little Christmas gift. ,
