RAPID BRITISH ADVANCE. EL-ARISH TAKEN 7 . London, Dee. 22. An official message from Egypt says: We have occupied El-Arish (near the Palestine border) after it has been two years in enemy hands. The enemy intended to make .1 stubborn resistance and had constructed strong trendies at tin- position of Masaid, covering El-Arish. Die rapidity of our advance completely upset their calculations as we forestalled the arrival of the enemy's reinforcements. The enemy abandoned the position on the night of the 19th and retreated east and south-east. The recapture of ElArish is a serious blow to the Turks.
