THE EMPIRE.

A MODERN ENOCH ARDEN AT THE MATINEE TO-DAY. A complete change of programme will lejpresented to-day and to-night. The slar comedy offering, "A Modern Enoch Arden," presented by the famous Keystone Company, is a unique comedy in every way. Strictly\speaking it is a fralobty—and a very ijlcvcr travesty, indeed —of the loud and lurid melodramas that are presented from time to time on the stage proper. The conception of the play and its presentation are io skilful that much kudos must be awarded to tlit clever compiler and director. Many of the burlesque situations, the mock heroics of tlie hero and heroine, and the astonishing by-play of the "ha! ha! villi" ir.s" are too funny for words. The dctihle rescue of the "darling' ehee-i!d" by its unknown father was not only cute but distinctly sensational. The star feature drama," "Out of the Flotsam," by the Vitagraph Company, is a good production, conspicuous for very excellent photography and tip-top acting by a, strong cast of experienced players. The story holds the interest of spectators honi first to last. One of the very best Topical Budgets seen for some time is also included in the programme, which will be screened for to-day and to-nigh', only.
