MAGISTRATE'S COURT
A sitting of the Magistrate's CoiKt was held oh Thursday, Mr. A. Crooke, S.M., presiding. ■Henry Callaghan was- charged with procuring liquor while prohibited, and was conviteed and fined £l. For failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order with respect to his father, Frank Schodroski was convicted and sentenced to seven days' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended for 21 days, to give the defendant an opportunity to pay the arrears, £5 Ss. A. E. Whittington was charged with driving a motor-car without a proper nuniber-plate. .The defendant said ho had hired the car. The Magistrate remarked there was no moral blame attached to defendant. He would make it as light as possible, and merely convict defendant and order him to pay the costs. Alma Henry Gilbert, charged with allowing a horse to wander on the Tariki Road, was convicted and fined Percy Sole, C. Toplis, Maurice Rogers, and R. >S. Lye, charged with driving on the wrong side of the road, were convicted and ordered to pay the costs. (leorge Ferguson was convicted and fined lbs for attempting to rescue a number of cows from the poundkeeper. \V. (1. Emeny (Mr. B. P. Fitzherbert) was fined 10s for failing to keep a holiday book. For keeping his shop open after 10 p.m., S. R. Lovell was fined ]os. A fine of 10s was imposed on Allan Veale. for keeping his shop open after hours.
