BUTTER AND CHEESE.
SHORTAGE OX< aEFSIGEBATED TONXAGE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. iTeilington,. December 20. don. W. D. S. Mac Donald, Minister of Agriculture, stated to-day that the shortage of refrigerated tonnage for butter and cheese was approaching an acuti; stage, as storage was limited, and ;i great quantity of butter and cheese, was coming forward. Shipping space was most urgently required foi cheese, which could not be kept in store So well i's butter. The Minister expected that more, tonnage would be available within a. few months for butter, and he hoped also to learn soon of an improved outlook for getting cheese away. MR. MASSEY NOTIFIED. Dunedin, December 20. Mr. Lamb, secretary of the South Island Dairy Association, sent the following cablegram to Mr. Jlassey to-day: "Dairy factories blocked with cheese and butter; no shipping; unless finance provided must close down; position exemely serious."
