The Russians importantly checked the German advance before Batagn, :)() miles west of Brailia, giving time to remove the Brailia wheat stores, and providing a eleai retreat for the Dohrudja troops.

The Russian General, Gonako, has taken command of the Russo-Rouman'an forces' The Roumanians are reorganising behind the Russians. , BUCHAREST FINED BY THE GENTLE GERMANS. , Received Dec. 21, 9 p.m. London, Dec. 21. It is reported the Germans have levied four millions sterling upon Bucharest, and ordered Roumanian paper-money to bear the German stamp to the amount of 15 per cent, of the face value. ,Thu Germans have promised full civil and political liberties to the Mews.
