| GEXERAi. (I'roai Our Own Correspondent.) Tuesday, Doc. l!l. Scouts, the Rev. li. Tiusley was elected chaplain, vice I'cv, Howard, resigned. Mrs. Mclleth ,«as jirissentoi! with a Scouts' thanks badge. The pantomime, "Beauty and the Beast," resulted in an addition of £ls to the funds. Mrs. Mcßoth presented badges for ambulance work- won bv several hoys. Thanks were recorded to Scoutmaster Dyson and Assistant Scoutmasters Tiros. Kit-ell, for their great work. Under the control of the liev. G. W. Dent (Eltham), the Stratford anil Eltham Boy Scouts will go on trek to Opunako shortly. At the Stratford Dairy Factory 511 •Saturday, the manager (Mr. j. F. McDonald) was presented with a travelling ha", as a token ot good feeling. Mr. McDonald suitably acknowledged, the unexpected memento of goodwill.

Dr. H. D. Robertson, who at one period was stationed in Stratford, is now engaged in the Walton-on-Thames 'Military Hospital. He sends greetings to friends.

Mr. R. Melntyre (Public Works Office) received a surprise 011 Saturday evening, when Mr. H. H. Sharp (resident engineer) presented him with a safety razor, as a farewell gift, prior U going to camp, The Patriotic Committee is completing arrangements to hold a band eoncert 011 the Show Grounds on Sunday, December 31. Mr. W. H. H. Young presided at the committee meeting of the Stratford Racing Club on o.Mndav evening-. -Mat tors in connection with the approaching race meeting were discussed. .Soldiers in uniform are to be admitted free. The Borough Council is to be requested to attend to some roads en route to the club's grounds. Two firemen in uniform are to be invited to be present at the meeting. Mr. Piper's resignation was accepted with regret.

A lady was heard to remark that she was bewildered, and did not know what to buy for Christmas. Then she became wise, and accomplished her shopping with pleasure and ease. There was no mystery about it. She merely saw C. li, James' fancy goods shop, and her worries ceased.*
