ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
BROWNED WHILE BATHIXG. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchureli, Dec. 10. Shortly after 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon a youth, named Leo Dobbs, of Salisbury Street, who was swimming oil' the pier at Sumner, was seen to disappear. The crijwd of holiday-makers gavo the alarm# and a constable and members of the life-boat crew went out in a dinghy with grapples and drags, but could not get the body. The lad was bathing in a dangerous spot near the liar, where there is a strong tide ilip at low water.
