Miss Davis lias tendered her resignation as assistant clerk to the Sfoa Road Board, aM Miss Noreen Drake has" been appointed to fill the "vacancy. Considerable dissatisfaction lias Men en used amfingst the farming 'community locally on account, of the Government excluding VVaitafa as a port of export for wool. At a special meeting of- the i Chamber of Commerce'held on Thursday the following resolution \va* passed: "That this meeting'.respectfully, and emphatically protests against the proposal to exclude Wajtara as a port of export for wool, Waitara has been- a port for wool tor many years, and' the proposed change would entail - considerable and unnecessary expense on farmers here, who have to bear the cost of the extra railage." A similar resolution was'passeft at a meeting of farmers at Tarata.
Hie reply received from the Minister was similar to that senf to the- .Stratford Chamber of Commerce, The Minister concluded by stating that in view of the many protests received, he would go into the matter again with his advisory committee as soon as hit could get its members together.
