MOA ROAD BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. Tlic ordinary meeting of the Moa Road Bean] was licit! at Inglewood on Satur(lay, when there were present: Messrs. H. Trimble (chairman), T. Bowler. ». Hunker, J. Williams and A. E. Laurence OVERSEER'S REPORT. The overseer (Mr. R. \Y. Davies) reporlcd that 25 twelve-inch pipes had bun sent out and put in at the .lunction of Durham 'and Mountain roads. One pet of nine-inch pipes had been sent out to Lincoln road, and another set put in at the Xlangaotea, road. Mr. Bridgeman took up his position as foreman on November 27 Mr. Potross had finished tiie work of clearing and completing the drain on Derby road and made the fords. The timber for MoUikatva bridge vai to hand, and arrangement;. liact been made for carting it out a? soot as possible. The work- of building the bridge would be put in hand after the New Year. The crushing plant was shifted to Durham road on November 24, hut owing to so much wet weather crushing operations were somewhat delayed. The settlers at the first crushing site had ac~ si' ted witli the getting out and crushing of tiie boulders and deserved great credit for the way in which they worked Owing to the recent dry spoil, the metal hao" been lifting badly, and the work of raking up loose stones and blinding waa progressing slowly on account of shortage of labor. Timber had been cut away from Manganui and Makara bridges. General maintenance work had been done on the Rimutauteka, Bristol. Raimata. Dudley West, Kupara, Toi Toi, Mana, Ratapiko and Windsor roads.
THE WAITARA ROAD BOARD i MERGER. The clerk to the Waitnra Road Board advised that the Board would agree to the properties of Messrs. Hoby. Bennett, McFitridge and Langman being merged into the Moa Road District, but could npt sop its way clear (o alter its pnvious decision in not agreeing to the lMrging of section 121 (Mr. Paul). The chairman stated he had waited 011 the Board, which objected to the latter section being included owing to the owner having another farm in the district and the milk from both would be carted over the Waitara Board's roads, whilst the Moa Road Board would collect the rates. Members were of opinion that there was a ivood deal in the contention, and a resolution was passed agreeing to merge the four lections.
Messrs. Hoby and Langman waited on the Board in connection with the matter, and asked that the road should be put jr. 'order. !, The.chairman stated that it would be (lie end ol February before the merger would take effect The Waitara R'oad Pcard would collect the rates tlhs year, una possibly some arrangement might be made with them. The matter was left in the bands of the chairman to arrange. LEPP.ER ROAD. Mr. H. 11. Sharp, resident engineer. \yiotc regretting that authority for the Government, .grant on the Leppcr road cculd not be "issued at present. He suggested, however, that in view of the fact that the Government grant was small as compared with the Board's quota, the Board should proceed with the work, and he would have it inspected from time to time as necessary so that the subsidy inigli tbe. payable immediately financial authority was available. v \ TENDERS.
Tenders were received as follows: Bristol road, 110 yards crushed metal, Crylls and Julian. Os (accepted): Davis load,. 10 yards crushed metal, W. Thompson, lis (accepted); Durham East. 70 yards boulders, \V. Thompson, 3s fid (accepted); Leppcr South, 132 yards boulders, W. Thompson. 4s Od (accepted), Julian and Grylls, 4s, Cd; Mangaone, 75 yards boulders, Grylls and Julian, 10s Cd (accepted).: Norfolk East, 75 yards boulders, W. Thompson, 4s (accepted); Grylls and Julian, 4s Sd; Rugby, W Thompson, 3s 5d (accepted). Grylls and Julian, 4s (id; Surrey, ISO yards boulders, W. Thompson. 3s od (accepted), J. Butler 3s !)d, Grylls and Thompson 43 (Id; Windsor, 25 yards of boulders, W. Thompson, 3s 4d (accepted), Grylls and Julian 4s Od.
No tenders wore received for metal 011 the. Rimutauteka, Everett and Toi Toi and these were left in the hands of the chairman and overseer to arrange, as was also the procuring of metal for Kaimata North, GENERAL. Mr. Rrcdin forwarded t petition asking for a loan of £450 for metalling the .Ylangaotea. road, which he asked should be put in hand as soon as possible. The balance sheet showed receipts had amounted to £l3li os Sd -(all rates). The expenditure totalled £lßl 10s fid. The overdraft was shown at i't.ino Ss. Mr. Bridgeman's appointment as foreman was confirmed. Mr. Bowler brought lip the question of metalling about half a mile of the Kaimata road to join up with the Tariki read. The chairman staled he understood the settlers intended raising a loan of £325 to metal the road. This would only require a small rate. F!ome discussion ensued over holiday's, and it was resolved to give the staff eight, days' holiday on full pay. The chairman reported that Miss Davis hod resigned, and the question of appointing a successor was left i'ti the hands of the chairman and clerk. Accounts amounting to £'2l)3 were passed for payment.
