OFFENSIVE RESUMED SUCCESSFUL OPERATIONS. Received Dec. 1", 5.5 p.m. London, Dec. IC. Official, —Tll .Mesopotamia we assumed tiie offensive on the 13th and 14th, and effectively bombed the position at Sennaiyat, and secured the left bank of the HRi River. Between Atab and Basrugiyeh we crossed the right bank, penetrating to' a depth of eight to twelve furlong'. .Cavalry cleared the Turks fro::i their trenches at Kalanhajifahan, near Kut-el-Aniara. Our casualties were siight. Communiques indicate that the British Tigris expedition lias readied a point south-west of Kut, which must be occupied before ail advance up the river is possible. 'Since the attempt to relieve General Townscnd, railways have been built and the air service improved, and the medical'and commissariat departments are now efficient. AX OUTPOST ESTABLISHED Received Dec. 17, 5.5 p.m. London, Dec. IC. Official. —Our forces, advancing northwards 011 both banks of the ilai River, established an outpost within threequarters of a mile of the Tigris, southward of Kut.
