Miss G. Haworth (Auckland) is the guest of her aunt, Miss 1". Wood, foi a few days. Mrs. Percy Pritehard (Danuevirke) and children are the guests of Dr. Leatham, the former's father. Mr. and Mrs. Tomlinsota (Carterton) are the guests of Mrs. Whitton, the latter's mother. Miss Gcddes, who has been visiting Mrs. 0. Samuel, has returned to Wellington. Miss L. Whitcombc, who has been on a visit to Chri-tcbureh and Wellington, has returned. Mrs. Palmer, after a short visit to Now 'Plymouth, has returned to Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Johns leave on Tuesday on a six weeks' holiday to Sydney. Miss Viola Barker and Miss Murison (Marton] are on a fortnight's visit to New Plymouth. Mrs. MeClcl.ind, who has been on a visit to Wellington, returns to Xew Plymouth on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Good, with Miss Fairbuni, who have been staying in Xew 'Plymouth for some weeks, return to Wanganui per motor on Sunday. Mrs. J. B. Roy and Miss Roy, who have been visiting Wellington and Timarti, returned to Xew Plymouth on Monday, accompanied by Mr. Lan Roy. Miss Lcatliam, who has been the guest of Mrs. Southcy Baker, Rcnniera, Auckland, has returned. * * * * Mrs. Jardine, who has been visiting Tier sister, Mrs. C. T. Mills, has returned to Wairoa, Haw he's Bay. Miss Tidy, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. Butler, Wellington, ;e----turns to /Xew 'Plymouth by the mail train tonight.
Miss Crooke, whoi has been visiting her sister, Mrs. C. Gray, Wellington, has returned, accompanied by her ..father and Miss F. Crooke. Miss Me Williams (Hawke's Bay), who has been staying at the Mountain House, is at present the guest of Mrs. J. Mackay, Fitzroy. Mrs. Fred. Webster, who has been the guest of her daughter, Mrs. Farley, Xapier, returns to Xew Plymouth by the mail train to-night. Rev. A. H. and Mrs. Colvile, who have been visiting Hobart in connection with mission work, return to Xew Plymouth on Monday next. Xews by cable has been received by Mr. X. Alfred Xathan, of Auckland, that iiis daughter, Mrs. Desmond F. Kettle, has become engaged to . Sir W.olph Tuck's eldest son. The wedding fa private Jewish ceremony) is to take place at the house of Mr. Xathan's sister in Queen's Gate, London.
Garden Party.—Last Thursday a number of members of the local branch of the Red Cross organised a garden party at ''Aotca,'' Messrs Sole Bros.' beautiful property, wnich proved a great success, delightful weather prevailing. In the afternoon delightful music .was rendered by .Air.-:. A. George's orchestra, and in the evening an appreciative programme was discoursed by the Citizens' Band, under Bandmaster F. M. MceLod. The grounds, in the evening, illuminated with electric, lights of many colors and Chinese lanterns, made a spectacular effect, which vividly represent a scene out of a Christmas pantomime. The afternoon tea. and ice cream stalls were ably managed by Mesdamcs J. Glenn, I'enn, R. Quilliam B. Chancy, and Misses I. Crooke, Blundell, Matthews, O. Mackay, F. Winiield, Kirkby, Leatham, Bradbury (2), Gohlwater, Gibson (2), Rullard, 'pookes (2), A. Monteath, d'eun, Hall, Grant, Greatbateh, Weblscr, Wood, Cutlichl (2). The ladies on the managing committee were; Mesdamcs Fair, Courtney, Alexander and Renaud. * » # #
Everybody's Theatre. —Last Wednesday evening, Everybody's Theatre, the latest acquisition to the picture world, was thrown open by invitation for inspection, and a show picture programme was submitted. This new building can truly claim, to be one of the linest picture palaces in Xew Zealand, it being a gem of theatrical bijouterie, while the appointments of the building are perfect. The music of the orchestra, under the management of Mrs. A. George, was of a very high standard, and added much to the enjoyment of the evening.
WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE. Miss liohsou and her live musical boys have not forgotten the fact that although they will he enjoying their school term holidays in January, our men will still be leaving for Trentham camp, and will require the gift of holdalls. Their donation of neatly-wound cards of wool and thread has been doubled this month, KiO of these having reached the depot. The Mayoress wishes, to thank the boys for their good work, which is a great saving of time to the il'atriotic Committee.
