HARBOR BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The New Plymouth Harbor Board met yesterday. Present: Messrs J. B. Connett (chairman), C. K. Bellringer, E. 'Maxwell, J. Marx and E. Dockrill. Apologies .'or absence were received from Messrs C. A. Wilkinson, M.l\, and Newton King.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT. The superintendent of works (Mr. F. Henderson) reported that during November tiic Paritutu dredged on 24 days, the net time being 202 hours, A total quantity of 52 loads of spoil bad been taken from the second basin cut with the bucket in 205 hours, and 20 loads had been removed from the fairway with the sand pump in 57 hours. The second basin cut had been carried inwards a distance of 410 feet from the end of the wharf, there being 120 feet of dredging required to complete the cut. Mr. tlendcrson said the weather had been favorable for dredging, and no time had been lost, except a few hours occupied in coaling and shifting moorings. The Thomas King bad dredged on 17 days, the net time employed being 15.5 hours, and had removed 108 loads, equal to 8040 tons. During the month the Board employees bad been engaged in preparing rolling fenders for the wharf, repairing railway lines on the breakwater, and repairing the eastern side of the wharf, .which was recently damaged by a collision.

HARBORMASTER'S REPORT. The harbormaster (Captain William Waller) reported that during the four weeks ending December 0, 17 steamships, aggregating 10,420 tons, arrived at tu<ji Breakwater. The imports totalled 506-1 toiH, including 108S tons of coal for private use. The exporss for the same period amounted to 1540 tons, a total of OGO4 tons being handled. Captain Waller said the harbor was sounded on December S and 11, and it was found there was 29ft at the wharf at lowwater spring tides, and 24 feet in the channel. GENERAL. Messrs J. C. Spodding, Ltd., were given permission to erect temporary storage accommodation near the Breakwater, the sheds to remain for six months or for any greater term, us the Board may determine. Amounts amounting to £llOl 7s 5d were passed for payment.
