It recognised the value of technical education, and gave Messrs Gray and Toper a patient hearing. The former war- modest in his request for. .€lO, but naturally hoping tliat the Council might go a bit further and advance more. Tliey did this. A motion that the amount be £l2 lfls was promptly followed by an amendment that the amount should be £ls, and the hitter amount was promptly voted. Ifnuter introduced the personal element, expressing his satisfaction at the conduct of the school and the progress of his son at the. Xew Plymouth Technical College. His remarks were a splendid advertisement for the college, and the value of its work in coaching boys and girls in their technical studies deserves ciery publicity. Tiie councillors were practically unauimoHß in tlieir grant, ami seeing that '.lie sum will be devoted to the college at Stratford, ratepayers can ksc satisfied that their cash will be spent on the local school. The Court .sits to-morrow (Friday), and a heavy charge sheet will be submitted io the fj.JL Sir. Hasehlen. One of the chnrgxß will be that of permitting drunkenness on the promises, the case of Holmes v. Buchanan will also be re-submitted, whilst the Tariki youth, A. Diosdowski, will be called upon to answer charges of forgery. The boys of the Technical College have ken putting in good work at their fl'oarhg classes at Mr. Xev.'tos King's horse bazaar premises.
