MILITARY APPEALS.

WELLINGTON CASES. Wellington, December 7. The Military Service Board resumed to-day. Edward Coffey, clerk, applied for exemption on the ground of hardship. He had two brothers on active service, one being wounded recently. Appellant contributed to the support of the home. Replying to Mr. McLaren, Coffey said he supposed he eould contribute as miieli (iS») if at the front. The appeal was dismissed.

Samuel John Gardner, poultry farmer, Paparangi, appealed on the ground of hardship. He was a reservist in the Second Division. He had a wife and children to keep. The appeal was allowed.

Arthur Longhurst, employed at a milk depot, applied for exemption on :iil grounds. He had a wife who was not strong and an infant child, and had no other relatives. Replying to questions, appellant said be was married last December. The appeal was dismissed.

Jack McGrath, a laborer, appealed on the ground of hardship. He had four brothers on active service and another had enlisted. The ease was withdrawn, the chairman complimenting the McGrath family.

George Quig, painter, appealed on the ground of hardship. He was the only son of a widow,'who was dependent on him. Decision was reserved till February.

Claude Bertram Nieholls, railway porter, Petone, was granted three months' grace to arrange his domestic matters. George Albert KKIg, laborer, Newtown, appealed on the ground of hardship and. religious objections. He alsc stated that he had two brothers on active service and one in camp, tfut of a family of five one brother was drawn in the " ballot. Decision was reserved till June. Joseph Edward Casey, canteen assistant at FeStherston, appealed on the grounds of hardship. He had two brothers at the front. His father owned property. The appeal was dismissed, George Herbert Moir appeaJed on the ground of hardship. His health was precarious, and he was the sole support of the home. Decision was reserved till the end of February. An appeal by' William Currie, commercial traveller, on the ground that! he was a reservist in the Second Divi-1 sion, was allowed. . j The Taxation Department applied for. exemption; for James Mona'han, section : clerk, on the ground that he could not: be spared before March 31' The case ivas adjourned till that date.
