NEW LIQUOR BILL. AUstralian-N.Z. Cable Association. Sydney, Dec. 8. The Liquor Amendment Bill Ims received the Governor's assent. It provides for the absolute closing of hotels on Christmas Day and Good Friday and the prohibition of the sale of soft drinks after'six o'clock. ' lABOK DEMANDS. Melbourne, Dec. 8. The Labor Conference carried a motion Urging an amendment of the Constitution to empower the Commonwealth Parliament to abolish Legislative Councils and State Governors, and urged Labor Senators, in view of the enormous expenditure and unsatisfactory and inconsistent reports concerning the army, to move for the appointment of a commission to inquire into the management of the Australian army'. QUESTION OF CENSORSHIP. Melbourne, Dec. 8. The Senate is debating a motion to abolish the regulation requiring submission to the censor of all matter relating to the war before publication. Mr. Pearce said he had proof that German agents were not without friends in the Australian Parliaments. The motion was carried by 17 votes to I*. BANK TO BANK BILL, Brisbane, Dec. 8. The Legislative Council read for the first, time a- Bill legalising the eighthours bank-to-bank clause, as interpreted by the miners.
