" iIORASS AXD MISERY. - i r • " London, Dec. 7. ■ Jfr. Philip fiibbs states that a -white moist .fog overhangs the West front, and, the men look like ghosts. The Canadians had hideous adrentures at Courcelette, the men bring■ng up supplies falling through the icv ■nto cold water. Recent fighting was carried on unbeaten, despite the surrounding morass and misery. A. French communique states:—So\hing has occurred except a coup de main east of Metzera), iu \v3iicb we took prisoners fjKBLLIKG AT THIEPVAL RIDGE. Received Dec. 8, 10.53 p.m. Lcndon, Dee. 8. Jeheral Sir Douglas Haig reports:— l'here is considerable reciprocal shelling is the vicinity of the Thiepval Ridge.
