A London cable states that General Millies, in a Salonika dispatch, mentions Lieutenant-Colonel MeGavin, a New Zealand surgeon. A London cable states that Lieut* eiiant Gladstone Ward has recovered from his accident, and resumed his military duty. Mr. R. E. Hayei, Registrar of Friendly Societies, Wellington, arrived in New Plymouth from Wanganui yesterday. Mr. Hayes addressed a meeting of members of friendly societies last evening on questions arising out of the Fiuan.'u Ant. He proceeds to Palmerston N.irth to-day.

Mr. J. B. Rklmrds, the Deputy Official Assignee at Stratford, lias resigned, Mr. J. S. S. Medley, the Deputy Official Assignee at New Plymouth, -has been appointed to act for Stratford as well as for New Plymouth in the mean' time.

Mr. F. Pirani and Mr. L. Watkins are in town in connection with the Typographical Conciliation Court proceedings.

Flight Sub-Lieutenant Klioi Kinj, the youngest son of Mr. Newton King, New Plymouth, is nt present attached to the R.N. Seaplane Depot, 'Port. Sa.d, Egypt. In a letter to a local friend, lie 'states that whilst swimming one day early in October he came acio's Captain Rex Brewster, N.Z.M.C., who was stationed half-way down fchi Canal, at Ismailia, but was expecting to be shifted any time into the desert.

Among the passengers by the Ru&hine, arriving in Auckland yesterday, was Lieutenant W. H. 'Staiiiton, who was awarded the Military Cross for services in tlie field. He was a member of the First Maori Contingent, and saw service at Gallipoli, whence he was invalided to England. He afterwards went to France, where he took part, in '.lie Somnie fighting, for which the decoration was conferred. He returned to the Dominion to report for duty. Association.
