A meeting of the Stratford District High School Committees' Association was held in the Stratford School rooms yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs.
J. McMillan (chairman), \V. Mills, K. A. Bocock, F. J. McDonald, J. H. Kirkby, The chairman of the Education Board (Mr. K. Masters) was also present. A quantity of routine business was transacted, and the meeting closed.
The Waipuku toll-gate has now been is operation for twelve months, and during that period the Stratford Council has received £l4lß 13s 7d. The first six months was responsible for £750 19s lOd, and the period just ended £OO7 13s 9d. During the last six months 3529 motor-cars passed the gates. Cattle to the number of 12,337 paid £sl, whilst 21,722 sheep 'helped the revenue by £ll 45., News to hand states that Corporal E. H. Bobinson, son of Mr. K. H. Robinson, and a unit of the 36th Battalion, "Carmichael's Own," Australian Troops, has been selected for further training as an officer at Tidworth School.
On Sunday a memorial service was lield in memory of Corporal Frank Marfell, son of the Toko family, who was killed in action recently. The Rev. C. K,. Howard, of Trinity Church, officiated.
