MILITARY SERVICE.
EXEMPTIONS GRANTED. By Te'egraph.—Press Association. Wellington, December 4. The Minister for Defence to-day forwarded authority to Mr. firavndhT, secretary of the Agricultural Workers' Union, to apply for exemption for the shearers drawn in the Military Service ballot during the shearing season. Similai authority was given to Mr. Reardon to act in the case of slaughtermen desiring exemption. So far about one thousand applications for exemption have been received from the men drawn. The various boards will get to work immediately.
