The "fiighden" sprinter, Cease Fire, ran a really good race in the Feilding Stakes, and should not be long in catching a good race. The open hurdlers at Feilding were mere trash, and it was not surprising <& see the hack, Austin, put it all over them on Thursday. Billy Young's smartness a-t the barrier | probably won the Kiwitea Welter for Detroit, who was always well clear of the bumping that upset the favorites in that race. Owners were game to risk good horses in some of the hack events ai Feilding. Crowded fields on a narrow course, with sharp bends, led to awful Bcrambles. Captain Miro cost his party a nice pcreel on Wednesday, and he was never dangerous at any part of it. The hack hurdlers were a good lot, and the Captain's "art" may be at the holiday Meetings nearer home. Trainer "Dick'' O'Donnell is having a great innings this year. The Toil was the big gun at Riecarton, and Koesian upheld the honor of the stable in the Feilding Stakes. Bisogiie ra:i a great race in the Oroua Stakes on Thursday, and "downed" a hot o::e (Bimcter) in line style. Mr, Alexander's chestnut looks like picking up some of the big weight-forage races Rt New Year, and seems to be at home over all distances., "(harlie" Emerson was in fine form at Feilding, winning on Lady Blaek. Koesian, and Analogue on the first day. Fidelio had the confidence of her party in the Aorangi Plate on Wednesday, and ran well until within a hundred yards of home, where she fell back to fourth place. 'Probably the going was against her. Adjutant was heavily backed in the St. Andrew's Handicap, but was done like, a dinner at the homo turn. In fact, all of Sir George's horses shaped very badly on the first clay. Kurapai was very unlucky to get beaten on Wednesday; and the next day landed very easily. Both he and Xiconwr have been running very consistently of late. Client was chopped out at the start for the Kiwitea Welter, and was subsequently bumped all over the planet, finishing fast in fourth place. On the second day "Charlie" Price steered him clear of trouble, and he "flew in," to the accompaniment of loud cheers from the multitude. It is do-e'it to see the favorite land the last heat! Guiding Way's four firsts in two days' racing at Takapuna must be' something of a record. What bad judges some jockeys are! One well-known horseman at Feilding had all his punters in on a "stone moral," and the winner turned up in his own mount, with the moral second! Vladian developed a splint recently. Hence his absence from.Feilding, where there were two good stakes waiting for him.
