Auckland, Last Night. , A serious fire broke out thig evening! in a three-storey butter-box factory, occupied by Bagnall Bros, and Co., Tree-, ' man's Bay. The men had just been? paid for the week, and the engineer] . Imd just concluded an inspection of tW ■ building, when smoke was seen coming apparently from the centre of the building. By the time the frre brigades an ' rived the factory was ablaze from «n$ to end, a detached office likewise. A| boiler-house was also alight. T)»e fiwi was not extinguished until after five! hows' work on the part of the brigades. The building was so stoutly con* structed that, although part of thai roof fell in, the machinery remains ori three floors. The machinery is valued 1 at ,0000, and the building at £2000,1 and until an iiu-pection is possible the! exact amount of damage is unascertainable, but it must be heavy. Tho insw unces are in the Xew Zealand Office, tlie amount being unknown. The oiigjji' of the lire is unknown.
