BLACKBALL MINERS STRIKE.
AGAINST CONSCRIPTION. DISCOUNTENANCED BY FEDERATION. By Te'egrnph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. According to advices received in Wellington to-day, the Blackball miner;, at a , "stop-work" meeting, decided to strike', in opposition to the Conscription Act. < They demand its. repeal before re : suming work, end also demand a 17'/ a per cent, increase in the minimum wage. It is understood that the strike does not meet with the approval ol the Miners' Federation, which has instructed the Blackball miners to resume work, and has taken steps to prevent the strike spreading to the other unions.
