Lieutenant Duffy, son of the High Court Justice, has been killed ii France. -Cable. Miss Staiham, inspector nf soldiers' graves, is on an official visit to New Plymouth. According to a London cable, Earl Ronaldshay will succeed Lord Carmiehael as Governor of Bengal Provinca in April nej:t. Mr. James Hislop, Under-Secretary; for Internal Affairs, ,vas in New Plymouth yesterday. He returns to Wellington this morning. The deaths of two old and highly re» speated residents of Inglewood are reported, Mrs. Mark Hopson' and Mr. Willinnl W. Ackland. The latter had reached the ripe age of 91 years. Sergeant Alf. Jennings, who left with the Main Expeditionary Force, writing from the New Zealand Sofdiers' Club, London, 011 October -!, states that, 110 was under orders to proceed to Ayrshire, Scotland, where an ofilcers' training camp is situated. Sergeant Jennings lias had active service in Galliooli and France. ilv. W. T. Jennings, M.P., leaves by; the mail train to-day for Otorohanga, to take part in the opening proceedings in connection with the new and up-to-date dairy factory just erected.
